“Scarlett Johansson’s Met Gala Gown: A Showstopping Masterpiece”

The Met Gala saw some outrageous and eye-catching outfits this year, with Rihanna, Katy Perry, and Sara Jessica Parker stealing the spotlight with their unique headpieces. However, it was Scarlett Johansson’s stunning cherry red and white floral gown that got everyone talking. Designed by the controversial label Marchesa, known for dressing A-list celebrities, the dress made a bold statement on the red carpet.

Marchesa, a fashion brand co-owned by Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman, (formerly married to Harvey Weinstein), was the surprise choice for Scarlett Johansson’s dress. Since allegations of Harvey’s misconduct surfaced in 2017, many celebrities have avoided wearing the label due to its association with him.

Scarlett, who collaborated with Weinstein on the film Vicky Cristina Barcelona, mentioned to Variety that she chose to wear Marchesa to show her support for the brand’s female designers. She stated: “I decided to wear Marchesa because their designs empower women to feel both confident and beautiful, and I am happy to back a brand founded by two highly skilled and influential female designers.” Her representatives also stated that Scarlett had requested Marchesa to create a gown for her to wear to the Met Gala well in advance, and the garment was tailored specifically for her.

Similar to numerous other female celebrities in the entertainment industry, Scarlett has publicly endorsed the Time’s Up movement, which aims to combat incidents of inappropriate behavior in the workplace. Well-known personalities such as Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Paltrow have also expressed their concerns and disapproval regarding this issue.
